  Job Description

Position: Child Caregiver - Private Home

Employer: Lu Residence

Work Setting: Private home

Location: Edmonton, AB

Salary: $20.50 hourly / 35 hours per week

Working schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:45 to 10:45 and 2:30 to 6:30

Benefits: Other benefits

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time 

Start Date: As soon as possible

Requirement

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience ( Early childhood education background is preferred)

Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year

Credentials: First Aid Certificate preferred / Criminal record check preferred / Reference required

Transportation/Travel:  Own Vehicle

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Work under pressure, Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs) 

Personal Suitability: Flexibility / Judgement / Organized / Reliability / Time management / Honesty



Responsibilities:

-        Assume full responsibility for the household in the parents’ absence, ensuring daily routines are maintained smoothly.

-        Supervise and care for two children, aged 6 and 12, providing age-appropriate support and guidance.

-        Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks tailored to the children’s dietary needs.

-        Assist the 6-year-old with personal hygiene, dressing, and homework, while supporting the 12-year-old in developing independence.

-        Take both children to and from school, extracurricular activities, and medical or other appointments.

-        Instruct the children in personal hygiene, healthy habits, and appropriate social behaviour.

-        Discipline the children in accordance with the parents’ preferences and guidance.

-        Plan and supervise recreational, educational, and play activities suitable for their ages.

-        Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties, including tidying play areas, children’s bedrooms, and laundry.

-        Shop for groceries and household supplies as required.

-        Keep accurate records of the children’s daily activities, meals, and health information.

-        Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment in the home.
