SUMMARY OF THIS POSITIONUnder the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Technician will perform tasks related to the general maintenance of buildings and equipment. The incumbent will execute minor repair work, maintain equipment and installations, and perform preventive inspection of systems relating to building mechanics as well as machinery. LOCATION:The job will be carried out on site at PhiBer Manufacturing, 108 New Hope Drive, Crystal City, MB R0K 0N0. WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM (40 hours/week) OUTLINE OF DUTIES· Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems.§ Contact tradespersons for major repairs.· Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as paint booth maintenance, bake booth maintenance, compressor repairs and maintenance, preventative maintenance of mills and lathes and minor power tool repair .· Respond to requests from supervisor for repairs.· Perform daily inspections on the building systems, jibs, hoists, forklifts, machining equipment and others that require daily inspections and maintenance.· Provide general assistance to skilled trade persons such as machinists, welders, painters and assemblers.· Ensure that safety measures are in place in the establishment . Perform other related duties as requested. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEEducation: Trade Certification/Diploma of Equivalent Demonstrable ExperienceBasic KnowledgeThe position requires the incumbent to have knowledge of and experience with:· 5 years of previous preventative and routine maintenance experience required· Extensive power tool usage· Electrical and hydraulic skills· Mechanical skills· Organization skills· Prioritization skills· Self-motivated · Team orientedThe ability to communicate well in English both verbally and in writing is required. Comprehension and JudgmentThe work requires the ability to solve problems and to make independent decisions on a daily basis. Errors in decision making may cause loss and inconvenience to customers as well as the flow of production. CONTACTSThe position requires frequent interaction with other employees. Sound judgment, politeness, respect, and courtesy must be exercised at all times. PHYSICALWork requires routine interaction with staff in production, assembly, and administration. It also requires the use of power tools, forklifts and other hand tools. Physical effort is required in carrying out related duties such as walking, lifting and moving as repairs are being completed. Use of a respirator is occasionally required.
